The SOPAN Equalitas Standard is born: wine sustainability starts from grafted vines

The first link in the Italian wine supply chain takes a historic step: the SOPAN Equalitas Standard has been published, the new Standard for sustainability certification in the production of grafted vines. A pilot project, the result of the collaboration between Equalitas, M.I.V.A – Moltiplicatori Italiani Viticoli Associati and Unione Italiana Vini, defines a new frontier for Italian wine sustainability.

The Standard adapts the environmental, social and economic criteria of Equalitas to the specificities of viticultural nursery farming. The project involved the association M.I.V.A and two associated nurseries, Vitis Rauscedo and Vivai Fratelli Nicola, already leading to the first audits concluded with a positive outcome.

This opens a new chapter for the wine supply chain, which will be able to count on grafted vines certified according to clear, measurable and shared criteria.
